happy endings

I just wanted to say that I adopted a cat by the name
of Edward (now known as Jameson) back in February.
He is a maine coon, and was about to turn 7.
Even though he's still quite the scared cat that he was on the 1st day, I really couldn't of asked for a better cat. He's attentive, responsive, loves to play and is a great companion!! Thanks alot!

–William Miller

Please find attached some up to date pictures of Inkey. It's hard to believe we have had her for over a year already. She was so afraid when we first brought her home, now she runs the whole house and will come to us when we clap. She even hangs out with the other cats now. Maybe you can put this in your Happy Ending Section on your Web Site!

Ripley"My happy ending is, at this moment, sitting on my lap trying to 'help' me type. In August I adopted Jerry from your Petsmart (Cherry Hill). Now renamed Ripley (sorry, I knew a Jerry who was a real cad) he has adjusted extremely well to life with his two older feline 'sisters'. He's a typical kitten..but that's just what I needed, having lost a cat in December and another in June. He's a mischievous lap cat with some definite orange cat attitude. My major reason for mailing my thanks to you is to tell you that , in my opinion, the sole reason he is so lovable is the tireless hours that you folks at AAC spent socializing him. He interacts well with cats and other people. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart."

"On first looking at him, you wonder why anyone would adopt a 10 year old 86 lb yellow lab/german shepherd mix who had been in the shelter for almost three years and who had only 40% of his teeth and an ear that had been mangled years before. I don't know why, but I'm glad I did and so is Mr. Elliott.

"Mr. Elliott is quite a headstrong dog and also very lovable. He just needs someone to be firm. I'm glad that the shelter was a no-kill shelter and that Mr. Elliott has a chance to live out his remaining years in freedom in a home environment. He's sitting with me with me right now as I write this -- he usually doesn't let me get more than 10 feet away before he follows me."

"We adopted Hogan March 3, 2000 and we cannot thank you enough. He is the most lovable dog. He loves long walks, playing ball or Frisbee. As long as he is around us, he is happy. Hogan loves us as much as we love him. You have the knack for putting the right ones together. Thanks again to all of you. I tell all of my friends to adopt a dog and that they make the best pets. You don't know how much of an impact you have on peoples' lives. I know we will never forget you. God bless you."

"Elvis has fit in perfectly at home and is truly a family member. Each morning he wakes Domenick up with a demand for attention and food, not necessarily in that order. He has a very affectionate personality and loves to cuddle. Elvis can sing very loudly and whenever he feels the need for more attention, Elvis will climb your leg with his front paws and signal that he wants to hug. Once you pick him up, Elvis puts his front paws around your neck and rubs his face on your cheeks and ears while purring his blissful fortune!

Elvis is pictured here with his "little sister", Josie, who we adopted from a local SPCA. As you can see, Elvis has Josie in one of his patented cat hugs. We highly recommend an animal adoption from your care center and our hearts go out to all your volunteers who make a dream like ours a reality. Thank you, Animal Adoption Center, and keep up the great work!"

"This Sunday (9/26/99) marks the one year anniversary of our family's adoption of Gordon, a shepherd/pit mix. He was found as a starving puppy by an 'angel' and was taken to Animal Adoption Center. When I saw him, it was love at first sight and he has been at my side every moment since then.

"Because he had been abused, he was very afraid of everything in general and of men in particular. At first he cringed in terror at our every movement. When I offered him a bone, he ran like he thought I was going to beat him with it.

"We went to many obedience classes and practiced daily and Gordon worked very hard to learn to trust people. After months of incredibly intense work, I was very proud to be able to take Gordon to an elementary school for a humane education program I was involved in. He was perfectly behaved and everyone was so impressed.

"Working with Gordon has opened my eyes to a whole world of animal welfare issues that has given my life a new purpose and changed me forever. Under his supervision, I rescued some sick street cats. He helped me nurse them back to health by constantly licking and snuggling them. Now they are his little sisters. Gordie Bear, I am so proud of you and I love you very much."

Tom Tressel of Cherry Hill, NJ, adopted Michael and Celia as kittens. They are now known as Tiger and Fluffy...new names to go with their new, happy home.

This is a dog we adopted from Animal Adoption Center, May 18th, 1999. His name was Taz -- we renamed him Jag. We now know why he was named Taz. He was a devil and a handful in the beginning, but is doing very well now. We just love him to death. He is a year old this month and is beautiful...even more so than this picture.

"We wish to express our gratitude to your shelter for bringing us together with our cat, Pearl. We adopted her from you at the Jan. 1999 cat show at the Garden State Race Track--you knew her as "Silver". I must tell you about the enormous amount of love, laughter, warmth, and companionship she has
brought to our lives. Best of all, she is happy, secure and feeling loved. Thank you!"

" Korki (Larry) has been an absolute joy to our family, we weren't sure when we first brought him into our home do to the fact out dog Kya was so afraid of him, now they love each other and drive us absolutely crazy with their constant playing and rough housing. We can't imagine life without him! Thank-you AAC! Rachel is the best and we owe her for helping us get our new baby!"

"My husband adopted Rocky, a male Rottweiler, from the shelter in 1993. Rocky
had been a stray in Camden, and came to the shelter malnourished and abused,
and with some medical concerns. With some love, training, and lots of TLC,
Rocky became a beloved addition to our family. He was a massive 140+ lbs,
and looked like a show dog. He was intelligent, sweet, affectionate, and
playful. He loved playing ball, taking walks (never having to be on leash) -
especially on the beach, chasing squirrels, going to the groomer, and his
"babies" (stuffed groundhogs), which he took with him to bed every night.
Sadly, after several years of perfect health and happiness, Rocky developed
an aggressive bone cancer, which we spent a great deal of time and money
trying to defeat. We lost Rocky in November of 2001. We credit the shelter
with rescuing US by finding our Rocky - a truly wonderful creature - and
giving him the chance to live a good and happy life. Now, we share our home
with two Rottweilers and at least once each year, we make a contribution of
money and/or goods to the shelter in Rocky's memory. Thank you for all that
you do!"

I adopted Blackbird (originally named George at your shelter) when he was three months old in 2000. My wife Jeanette and I adopted Max (black and white) from you at three years of age in 2003 because Blackbird needed a brother. It was a match made in heaven for them and for us. They love each other to death and have more fun playing together than you could imagine. They are the most well behaved cats I've ever met. They don't touch or scratch what is not theirs, they even take care to keep their toys in good shape. We wouldn't know what to do without them. Thanks so much for making our little family complete. For anyone out there who has reservations about adopting a pet from this shelter, you may be denying yourself of something great if you choose not to.

We have always been cat people but I decided it was time for a dog, and in September (2005), I brought home a little black lab from Animal Adoption Center, who we named Bailee. All the information we had was that she was about 3 months old and she was part of a litter rescued from West Virgina. Bailee was very timid and quiet, but lovable from the start. Now, she is the most loved and most energetic member of our family. She went from being a little dog who loved to chew sticks to a big dog who loves to chew everything. We celebrated her 1st birthday in June but she is certainly not out of her "puppy stage." She is very athletic and LOVES going for walks and rides (she wags her tail and jumps around just by hearing those words). She has met many dogs in the neighborhood and is very playful. She tries to chase rabbits and squirrels (which makes taking walks very interesting)... and since she weighs in around 80 lbs in addition to being a very tall girl... walking or playing with Bailee is quite the workout. As you can seeby the pictures, she is absolutely beautiful and we are so thankful to have her in our lives!

Just wanted to send an email to say thank you to everyone at the AnimalAdoption Center. In January of this year my husband, Thomas and I adopted"Rocky" from the shelter. (we have since renamed him Buddy) Buddy was ahandful when we first brought him home. He was scared and mischievous andwasn't so keen on listening to us. After lots of love (and some time spentat obedience school where he quickly became a star pupil) Buddy has become awell mannered, sweet and lovable dog. He really completed our family.

When we heard that his sister, Sapphire (since renamed Sadie) had beenreturned to the shelter again, we knew we had to bring her home. Thoughthere was concern that they wouldn't get along, they became fast friends and are now completely inseparable. They are so happy here...they chase eachother in circles in our yard, sleep curled up together and love to play tug of war with their rope toys.

We don't remember what life was like before we brought them home and I just thought I should write to you and thank you all for everything that you do. Without a place like yours who knows what would have happened to our sweet pups.

I'm attaching a picture of them doing what they do best.....nap!

Thank you again,
Kerry, Thomas, Buddy and Sadie McNulty

On September 16, 2006, we adopted one of your cats.

"LBK" was one of your FIV+ kitties and had been there for 3 years. She is now named Sabrina and is coming up on a whole year at her new home.

She has settled in, nicely. She doesn't much care for her baby sister,
Fiona,(a stray we took in 3 months before adopting Sabrina) but Fiona tries so hard to get Sabrina to play with her.

She is a loving cat who just purrs all the time.

Tracy,

Please take a look at how Dillon is doing! We love him sooo much! Thanks
so much to you and your staff for being so patient with Chris and I
while we waited for Dillon to get well enough to take home! To update
you he is just finishing up another antibiotic. Our vet seems to think
he has allergies. He gets the lucky dog diet of rice and ground
beef-YUMMY according to Dillon! His eyes and nose have cleared up again.
He brings great joy to our home-he is a HUGE bundle of love!

Babycakes has become den mother to the boys-they don't listen to her
though! Jake is in heaven having a playmate with as much energy as he
has! The cats don't seem to mind Dillon since he doesn't really bother
with them. He has been a fantastic addition to our family-FYI-he is
housebroken! Thank goodness!!

In August 2006, we adopted a gorgeous and playful dog Chanel.
She is now a year old and she is a delight to our family.

Greetings Animal Adoption Center:

Monty has been adjusting so well in his new home:)   We named him "Homer J" and he already knows his name and the sit, stay, and come commands.  He is the smartest dog we have ever met.

Of course, we have been spoiling him but how can we say NO to that cute face.  He has also became a regular at our local dog park and loves long runs with us.  He also goes with us to our footballs games and our team as well as the other teams just love him.  Homer J loves all the attention he gets!

We have wanted a dog for years but wanted to make sure it was the right time in our lives and we got the right dog for us.  Homer J definitely is the right dog for us.

Thanks to the young man that introduced me to Homer J.  I believe his name was George.  I initially walked right passed Homer J and I was telling George the type of dog I was looking for.  Immediately, George brought be to Homer J and I feel in love instantly.  I would also like to thank the great staff at the Center.  We have been to a number of different SPCAs and shelters looking for a dog and the staff at the Animal Adoption Center has been the best and the most caring to the animals.

Sincerely,

Andy has settled in great, my wife and daughter took him to get some training from pet smart just to get a few little kinks out, and since then he’s been aces!  We originally adopted him for our other dog Beauty due to the fact that the kids are so active now in school activities and sports we felt that she would only benefit from having a friend around. The two of them are inseparable now; you might even think they grew up together.

They sleep together, they run in the back yard together, they play with the kids together, and they are both right there at the front door waiting for us when we get home!

Thanks again, and here is a couple of pictures for you, one of Andy and one of the two of them together.
